Frequently Asked Questions

Does my insurance cover counselling sessions?
Usually yes, what varies most is the coverage amount. Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by Registered Professional Counsellors (RPC) and Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC). Your insurance provider can confirm your coverage and reimbursement limits. We can provide receipts for you to submit to your insurer.
Do you accept Autism Funding?
Yes, we accept BC Autism Funding. This provincial program can be used to cover the cost of eligible services such as individual counselling and child counselling with our registered counsellors.

If your child has an autism diagnosis and is registered with the province's Autism Funding program, you can direct your funding toward sessions at Florescer. Contact us to confirm eligibility and set up the billing process.
Do you work with children and adults?
We work with adults, teenagers and children +5 years old. We have 3 rooms available: one fully dedicated to children and two rooms for adults and adolescents.
How much does a session cost?
Session fees vary by service type. You can find the full fee list on our Services page.
Do you offer a free consultation before committing?
Yes, we offer a free 15-minute call with no commitment and no charge. It's a chance to ask questions, share a little about what you're going through, and get a feel for whether our approach is a good fit for you. There's no pressure to book a full session afterwards.

You can book the free call online in just a few clicks. Choose a time that works for you and we'll connect.
What if after the free call I don't know if it's the right fit?
That's completely okay, the free call exists exactly for this purpose. You are under no obligation to book a session afterwards. If something felt off, we will easily accept that and we may even be able to suggest a different counsellor, or point you toward other resources. We are here to help and support you .
How many sessions will I need?
This is extremely variable. CBT is usually very efficient and practical, focusing on specific goals and in getting to results. Your counsellor will discuss a plan with you in the early sessions and adjust as you progress.
What happens in a first session?
The first session is primarily a getting-to-know-you conversation. Your counsellor will ask about what brought you in, your background, and what you hope to achieve. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. You will also get to know your counsellor and the therapeutic process. If you decide to continue, you will begin to set goals for your work.

Not sure yet? Book a free 15-minute call first. No commitment required.
Do you offer virtual (online) sessions?
Yes, we offer both in-person and virtual sessions. Please mention your preference when booking.
What languages do your counsellors speak?
Our team speaks English and Portuguese.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
You can cancel or reschedule through the Acuity Scheduling link you received when booking, or by contacting us at hello@florescer.ca or (236) 979-6391. Please give at least 24 hours notice to avoid a late-cancellation fee.
